WHO WE ARE
A Navajo family, born to this land
Our family has lived in the shadow of these canyons for four generations. Long before Page appeared on a map, our grandparents Polly and Sally Young and Charley Young, Sr. raised their children in a traditional hogan, herding sheep from Antelope Point to Horseshoe Mesa. When Glen Canyon Dam rose and Lake Powell filled, our world changed. But our grandmother Polly’s words stayed with us: learn both ways, but never forget who you are.
HOW IT BEGAN
It started with a vision
Shun’Diin Canyon Tours began by following the lead of our cousin brother Bobby Begay, who started his own venture first. His example showed us what was possible. Our family founded Shun’Diin with the help of one of our nephews, built on the same belief: that we could share the beauty of this land while honoring what makes it sacred.

We handle everything around the canyon: door-to-door pickup in a private Mercedes Sprinter, the permits, the prime light-window time slots, and the stories of this land on the drive in. Inside the canyon, you’re handed to trusted Navajo guides who know every turn of the rock. One booking. Every detail carried.
Led by women, four generations strong
In Navajo tradition, we are a matrilineal people, and our family business reflects it. The story passed from our grandmothers to Amelia, and now to her daughter Nicole, who left a corporate career at IBM to come home and lead the next chapter. We are raising the next generation to know both worlds, and never to forget where they come from.
